This article explains how to manage various fax settings on your machine. Refer to the following to learn how to send a fax.



Before you manage settings

  • You will need to prepare your printer for faxing.

  • To confirm or make a copy of your current fax settings, you can print the USER'S DATA LIST.

  • To access fax settings from the operation panel, select: Cog wheel icon  forward arrow Settings forward arrow Device settings forward arrow FAX settings.



FAX user settings

From the fax user settings, you can manage the following:

 


Advanced FAX settings

From advanced fax settings, you can manage the following:
  • Error reduction setting (VoIP) - Select Reduce to limit communication errors when you connect to an Internet line such as an IP phone.

  • Auto redial - Select ON to specify the maximum number of redial attempts and the length of time the printer waits between redials.

  • Dial tone detect - Select ON to confirm a dial tone before the fax is sent. (This setting may not be available depending on the country of purchase.)

  • Pause time settings - Set the length of the pause time when you enter "P" (pause).

  • TTI position - Select the position of the sender information (outside or inside the image area).

  • Remote RX - Select ON to specify the remote reception ID.

  • Color transmission - Select Disconnect if you don't want to send color documents when the recipient's fax doesn't support color faxes.

  • RX image reduction - Select ON to enable / disable automatic reduction, which decreases the size of incoming faxes so they fit on the selected paper.

  • Adv. communication settings

    • ECM TX - Select whether to send faxes in Error Correction Mode.

    • ECM RX - Select whether to receive faxes in Error Correction Mode.

    • TX start speed - Select the fax transmission speed. When the phone line condition or connection is poor, a lower transmission speed may resolve the issue.

    • RX start speed - Select the fax reception speed. When the phone line condition or connection is poor, a lower reception speed may resolve the issue.



Auto print settings

  • Received documents - Select Do not print to automatically store a received fax in the printer's memory.

  • Activity report - Select Print to print an ACTIVITY REPORT of the last 20 fax transactions (sent and received).

  • TX report - Select Print error only or Print for each TX to automatically print a TX REPORT/ERROR TX REPORT after a fax is sent.

  • RX report - Select Print error only or Print for each RX to automatically print a RX REPORT after a fax is received.

  • Print when out of ink - Set this to continue printing when ink runs out. Note that part or all of the fax may not print if the ink is out.



Auto save setting



Security control

  • FAX number re-entry - Select ON to send faxes after entering the number twice. Use this setting to prevent mistransmission of faxes.

  • Check RX FAX information - Select ON to have the printer make sure the recipient's fax device matches the dialed number. If it matches, the printer sends the fax.

  • Hook key setting - Select Enable to use the on-hook dial function.

  • FAX reception reject - Select ON, and the printer rejects fax reception if there is no sender information or the fax comes from specific senders.

  • Caller rejection - Select Yes on the subscribing confirmation screen to use your Caller ID to reject calls.  (This setting may not be available depending on the country of purchase.)
