Description

Learn how to load plain paper or photo paper in the rear tray of your PIXMA TS8120 printer.

Solution

You can load plain paper, photo paper, and envelopes on the rear tray.

Note  We recommend Canon genuine photo paper for printing photos.

For information on loading different paper types see the links below:

Important If you cut plain paper into small size such as 4" x 6" (10 x 15 cm) or 5" x 7" (13 x 18 cm) to perform trial print, it can cause paper jams.

Loading Paper in the Rear Tray

  1. Align the edges of paper. If paper is curled, flatten it.

    Flatten curled paper

Note Align the edges of paper neatly before loading. Loading paper without aligning the edges may cause paper jams. If paper is curled, hold the curled corners and gently bend them in the opposite direction until the paper becomes completely flat.

  2. Open the rear tray cover (A) and then pull up the paper support (B).

  3. Open the feed slot cover (C).

  4. Slide the paper guides open, and load the paper with the print side facing up.

  5. Slide the paper guides (D) to align them with both sides of the paper stack.
Don't close the paper guides too tightly against the paper, it may cause paper to not be fed properly.

Note Always load paper in the portrait orientation (E). Loading paper in the landscape orientation (F) can cause paper jams.

Load paper in portrait orientation (short side on bottom). If paper is loaded in landscape orientation (long side on bottom), paper jams may occur.

Note Do not load sheets of paper higher than the load limit mark (G).

  6. Close the feed slot cover (H) gently.
Important If the feed slot cover is open, paper cannot be fed. Be sure to close the feed slot cover.

Good to Know

When printing, select the size and type of the loaded paper on the print settings screen of the operation panel or the computer.

  • There are various types of paper, such as paper with a special coating for printing photos and paper suitable for documents. Each media type has specific settings (how ink is used and sprayed, distance from nozzles, etc.), that allow you to print with optimal quality. The wrong paper settings may cause poor printout color quality or scratches on the printed surface. If you notice blurring or uneven colors, increase the print quality setting and try printing again.

  • To prevent incorrect printing, this printer can detect whether the information set for the paper loaded in the rear tray matches the settings. When this function is enabled, an error message is displayed if the settings do not match. If the message displays, check and update the setting to match.
