Wireless Setup for the imageCLASS D1520, D1550, MF414dw, MF416dw, and MF419dw - Selecting a Wireless Router (Windows)

Description

This article provides instructions on how to setup your imageCLASS D1520, D1550, MF414dw, MF416dw, and MF419dw printers to do wireless printing, scanning, and faxing depending on your specific model.  It is broken down into two parts.  Part 1 provides instructions on how to setup your printer.  Part 2 provides instructions on how to download and setup the software on your computer.


 

Solution

Part 1:  Setting Up The Printer For Wireless LAN
 

1.  Tap <Menu> in the Home screen.

 

2. Tap <Network Settings>.
  • If the logon screen appears, enter the correct ID and PIN using the numeric keys, and then press . The default ID and PIN Number is 7654321.

 

3. Tap <Wireless LAN Settings>.
  • If the <Do you want to enable the wireless LAN?> message is displayed, tap <Yes>.

 

4. Read the message that is displayed, and tap <OK>.

 

5. Tap <SSID Settings>.
 

 

6. Tap <Select Access Point>.


 
The machine starts searching for available wireless routers.
 

 

7. Select a wireless LAN router.
  • Tap the router whose SSID matches the one that you have written down.
     

 
To view details of security settings
  • Tap <Details> and select the wireless LAN router. To return to the original screen, tap <Close> twice, and then press .
     

 

8. Enter the network key that you have written down by using the numeric keys, and tap <Apply>.
 
WEP
WPA-PSK or WPA2-PSK

 

9. Tap <Yes>.
 

10. Check that the Wi-Fi indicator is blinking on the operation panel.

  • The Wi-Fi indicator blinks when a wireless router is detected.
     

 
11.  When the setup is completed, the screen below is displayed, and approximately 2 seconds later, the Wi-Fi indicator lights up. Wait approximately 2 minutes (until the automatic settings of IP address and other items are complete).
 


12.  Press Home on the Control Panel to return to the Main Screen.

Note:  If you change the setting from <Wired LAN> to <Wireless LAN> or vice versa, you will need to uninstall MF Drivers installed on your computer and then reinstall them.
 

Part 2:  Downloading and Installing the Computer Software

Once your printer has been setup follow the instructions below for downloading and installing your printer, scanner, and fax driver depending on which model you have.  In the illustrations below we used the imageCLASS MF729Cdw and Windows 7 64 bit. The screens may vary somewhat based on your selections and the browser you use.

To download drivers and software for your device, please follow the instructions below:


1. Visit http://consumer.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer

2. Type your model name into the search box and select it from the list that appears. 



3. Click the 'GO' button to get to the Drivers & Downloads page for your model.

4. From the Drivers & Downloads Tab, Select your Operating System and Version from the provided drop-down menu.



5. The most common driver to use will be listed in the Recommended Section.  Click [SELECT] next to the driver you need as shown in the illustration above and then click [DOWNLOAD].


6. Click [Run] to begin downloading and installing the driver software.


7.  Click [RUN] to install the software.



8.  Click [Next] on the Welcome to the Setup Wizard for the MF Drivers.



9.  Click [Yes] on the License Agreement.



10.  Select Network Connection (for Network Models.



11.  Click [Yes] to remove the firewall blocks set against this program.



12.  Select your Device from the Device List and click [Next].



13.  Select the Drivers to install and click [Next].



14.  Select the printer driver you want to install and click [Next].  The default is UFR II Printer Driver.




15.  Confirm the printer name and click [Next].



16.  Confirm the fax name and click [Next].



17.   Click [Start].



18.  Select your default printer if it asks you to do so.

19.  Check the box next to your printer name and click [Exit].  The printer should print a test page.




Congratulations, your drivers are installed and you should be able to print, fax, and scan wirelessly now depending on your model.
