Manually Align the Print Head on a PIXMA MX922 Printer

Description
Learn how to manually align the print head in your PIXMA MX922 printer to correct print quality issues.
Solution
When you see horizontal and/or vertical banding or white lines on your print, a print head alignment may resolve the problem.
Before you begin
First, complete an auto print head alignment on your printer. If you still see horizontal and/or vertical banding or white lines on your prints, you will need to align the print head manually.
Replace any ink tanks that are low on ink to ensure that print head alignment sheet prints correctly.
Load at least three sheets of paper in the lower paper tray. The upper paper tray (cassette) isn't used for print head alignment
Place the paper in the tray with the print / whiter side face down.
You can use A4 or Letter-sized plain paper or Matte photo paper MP-101.
Turn the printer ON, and open the paper output tray.
Start manual alignment

Press the MENU button.
Select Setup, then tao OK to get to the setup menu.
Select Maintenance , then tap OK to get to the Maintenance screen.
Use the arrow buttons to select Manual head alignment, then tap OK.
At the confirmation screen, select Yes, then tap OK.
The print head alignment sheet prints. Don\t open the ink cover while the printer is printing.
When the message Did the patterns print correctly? appears, confirm that the pattern printed correctly, the select Yes, and tap OK.
The input screen for the head position adjustment values appears.
Look at the printed patterns.
Use the right or left arrow buttons to input the number of the pattern in column A that has the least noticeablevertical lines.
(A) Least noticeable vertical lines. (B) Most noticeable vertical lines.
Repeat Step 10 for columns B through H. For columns G and H, pick the setting that produces the least noticeable horizontal lines at the position indicated by an arrow.
(C) Least noticeable horizontal lines. (D) Most noticeable horizontal lines.
Tap OK when you finish entering numbers for all the columns.
Confirm, then press OK again to print the second pattern page.
Look at the printed patterns.
Use the right or left arrow buttons to input the number of the pattern in column I that has the least noticeable vertical lines.
(E) Least noticeable vertical lines. (F) Most noticeable vertical lines.
Repeat Step 15 for columns J through P.
Tap OK when you've finished entering numbers for all the columns.
Confirm, then tap OK again to print the third pattern page.
Look at the printed patterns.
Use the right or left arrow buttons to input the number of the pattern in column a that has the least noticeable horizontal stripes.
(G) Least noticeable horizontal stripes. (H) Most noticeable horizontal stripes.
Repeat Step 20 for columns b through h.
Tap OK when you finish entering numbers for all the columns.
Confirm, then tap OK again to go back to the Maintenance screen.
The manual adjustment of the print head is complete.
