Learn about reasons why the software included on EOS DIGITAL Solution Disk (CD-ROM) or downloaded from the Canon support page cannot be installed. Includes suggestions for resolving the issue.

Solution

Check the operating system and display resolution

If you get a message during software installation that says installation is not possible, the computer might not meet the minimum system requirements. Information on systems requirements for the software contained on the EOS DIGITAL Solution Disk / EOS Digital Software is available in the software instruction manuals that came with the camera. You can also download the manuals from our support site.

  • Non-supported OS - Check for operating system updates. Although Canon supports most software releases for Windows, Mac, and Linux platforms, it is possible you need to install an update.
  • Display resolution - A minimum 1024x768 display resolution is required.

Good to know

If the computer's operating system and display resolution do not meet the minimum system requirements, you can use a card slot (on your computer or a card reader) to download images. Refer to Using a card reader or a card slot on a computer to download images.
