Learn how to unlock and reset your EOS 7D Mark II when the mirror is locked. All it takes is two shutter button presses to release the shutter.
Solution
Check the [Mirror lockup] setting
During viewfinder shooting, if the shutter does not release when the shutter button is pressed fully, check the [ : Mirror lockup] setting in the shooting menu. If the setting is set to [Enable], change it to [Disable] to disable the mirror lockup.
Note: If the Mirror lockup is set, the mirror swings up when the shutter button is pressed fully, and the viewfinder is blacked out. When the shutter button is pressed fully again, the mirror goes down and the picture is taken. The reflex mirror action causes a slight mechanical shake. This shake can blur images taken with a telephoto or macro lens so locking the mirror is a useful solution.
