Before you begin

If your memory card is new or was used by another device, you'll need to format it to work with the camera.
Note: When the card is formatted, all data is erased. Make sure you transfer everything off the card that you want to keep.

Steps

  1. Switch <ON> the camera.
    Power switch
  2. Press the <MENU> button.

  3. Press the <> button and select the [  ] tab.

  4. Turn the <> dial and select the [  ] tab.

  5. Turn the <> dial to select [Format card], then press <>.

  6. Turn the <> dial to select the desired card. Choose  for a CF card or  for an SD card, then press <>.

  7. Turn the <> dial to select [OK], then press <>.

    Note: For low-level formatting, press the <> button to append [Low level format] with a checkmark [  ], then select [OK].
    • This type of formatting may be useful if read/write speeds seem slower than normal.
    • This type of formatting erases all readable sectors and takes longer than regular formatting.
