Learn how to uninstall and reinstall EOS Utility Ver.3.x on Windows 7. This can sometimes resolve issues with the software running poorly.

Solution

Occasionally, you may find EOS Utility doesn't run as well as it used to. You can delete it and then reinstall it to solve the problem.

Uninstall EOS Utility Ver.3.x

  1. Select Start -> All Programs.
  2. Select Canon Utilities -> EOS Utility -> EOS Utility 3 Uninstall
  3. If you get a message asking if you are sure, select OK.
  4. If you get a message that EOS Utility 3 cannot be removed, select Ignore.
  5. Select OK after uninstallation completes successfully.
  6. Restart the computer.

Using Control Panel
Sometimes the unistallation program doesn't work. If that happens, you can accomplish the task with Windows Control Panel.
  1. Select Start -> Control Panel.
  2. Select Uninstall a program.
  3. Select Canon Utilities EOS Utility 3, and then click Uninstall/Change.
  4. Select OK.
  5. If you get a message that EOS Utility 3 cannot be removed, select Ignore.
  6. Select OK after uninstallation completes successfully.
  7. Restart the computer. 

Install Canon software

Download the latest software from Drivers & Downloads.
  1. Locate the installation file you downloaded from the Canon website.
  2. Depending on your operating system, you may need to start the installation by double-clicking the .exe
  3. Follow the prompts to choose your region, country, language, and software to install.
  4. Close any other applications, and then select OK.
  5. Select Install.
  6. Select Yes to agree to the license agreement.
  7. If prompted, select Yes to agree to automatic updates. 
  8. Some operating systems ask if the Canon software should be allowed to make changes to your computer. Select Yes.
  9. The installation begins and a screen displays the progress. You may be asked to agree to the installation of one or more plug-in applications. If so, select Yes.
  10. Select Next once installation is complete.
  11. Choose to register for Canon iMAGE GATEWAY now or later.
    • Yes - Follow the instructions to complete registration.
    • No - Select Next and then OK.
  12. If prompted, select Restart.
