Before you begin

• With DRPD your printer / fax can automatically differentiate between a voice call and a fax call.
• You have to subscribe to a Distinctive Ring Pattern Detection (DRPD) service provided by your telephone service provider (United States and Canada only).
• The telephone service provider assigns two or more numbers with distinctive ring patterns to your single telephone line.  Your printer / fax monitors the ring pattern, and receives the fax.

Setting the DRPD ring pattern (United States and Canada only)

1. Turn on the printer / fax. 
2. Press FAX. The fax standby screen is displayed.
3. Press the center Function button. The Receive mode settings screen is displayed.
4. Use the button to select DRPD.
5. Press the right Function button.
6. Use the button to select DRPD: FAX ring pattern, then press the OK button. The DRPD: FAX ring pattern screen is displayed.
7. Select the ring pattern that your telephone company assigned to your fax number, then press OK.
   
8. Press Back. The Receive mode settings screen is displayed.
9. Press OK.
10. The Fax standby screen is displayed.
