Learn how to set up your PIXMA MX922 printer for use with Windows or macOS® via USB.

Solution

To be able to use the MX922 printer to print or scan via USB on a Windows or macOS® computer, follow the steps below.


Before you begin

  • You may need to log in to the computer as an administrator.

  • It is recommended to quit all other applications before starting the software installation.

Note Don't connect the USB 2.0 cable until instructed.

Installation for Windows PC

To download and run the setup file on your computer follow these instructions:

  1. Go to the MX922 Drivers & Downloads page to get the installation package, or insert the CD-ROM that came with your printer.

  2. Launch the installation file from your CD ROM or the file you downloaded from our website, and follow the on-screen prompts. Make note of what to do if the setup file doesn't run automatically. Select the Download button to start the process.

  3. At the Connection Method Selection screen, choose USB Connection.

  4. Follow the on-screen instructions.

  5. When the Printer Connection screen appears, connect your USB 2.0 cable between the printer and the computer.

  6. Turn on the printer.

  7. Select Next and continue to follow the rest of the on-screen instructions.

  8. Load paper into the printer before printing the test page.

  9. Select Exit to complete the installation.


Installation for macOS

To download and run the setup file on your computer follow these instructions:

  1. Go to the MX922 Drivers & Downloads page.

  2. Under the Drivers tab, click the Select button to the right of the CUPS printer driver, the scanner driver, and the ICA driver as shown below.

  3. Click Download for each item.

  4. After the drivers have finished downloading, double click the .dmg files to open them.

  5. When opening these files, a window will appear with a .pkg file. Double click the .pkg file to open it.

    Note Depending on your computer's security settings, you may receive a message telling you that you can't open the file because it wasn't downloaded from the App Store. If you receive such a message, you can open the file by control + click or right-click on the package file and select Open.

  6. Follow all on-screen instructions to install each driver. If prompted, to enter your computer's password to install the drivers.

  7. After installing the drivers, connect a USB 2.0 cable between the printer and the computer.

  8. Load paper into the printer before printing the test page.

  9. Select Exit to complete the installation.
