Description

If vertical lines are misaligned, executing a print head alignment may help solve the issue.

Solution

If printed ruled lines are misaligned or print results are otherwise unsatisfactory, adjust the print head position.

 Note

You can also adjust the print head position using a Windows PC or a Mac.

If the remaining ink level is low, the print head alignment sheet will not be printed correctly. Replace the ink tank whose ink is low.

If you run out of the supplied paper (Matte Photo Paper MP-101) or the specified Canon genuine paper is not immediately available or obtainable, you can use plain paper and align the print head manually using a Windows PC or a Mac.

The print head alignment pattern is printed in black and blue.

You need to prepare: a sheet of A4 or Letter-sized Matte Photo Paper MP-101

  1. Make sure that the power is turned on.

  1. Load a sheet of supplied paper or A4 or Letter-sized Matte Photo Paper MP-101 in the cassette (lower).

Load the paper WITH THE PRINT SIDE (WHITER SIDE) FACING DOWN in the cassette (lower).

 Important

The cassette (upper) is not available for the print head alignment procedure. Be sure to load paper in the cassette (lower).

  1. Open the paper output tray.

(1) Press the open button to open the paper output tray.

The output tray extension will open automatically when the paper output tray is opened.

(2) Extend the paper output support.

 Important

If the inner cover is open, close it.

  1. Hold down the RESUME/CANCEL button until the POWER lamp flashes white four times, then release it immediately.

The print head alignment sheet will be printed and the print head position will be adjusted automatically.

Do not perform any other operations until the printer completes the printing of the print head alignment sheet. This takes about 3 to 4 minutes.
