Wireless Setup for the imageCLASS LBP214dw and LBP162dw (Macintosh)

Description

This article provides instructions on how to setup your imageCLASS LBP214dw or LBP162dw to do wireless printing.   It is broken down into three parts. 

Part 1 How to setup your printer. 
Part 2 How to download and setup the software on your computer. 
Part 3 How to setup the printer driver on your computer.

Solution

Part 1:  Setting Up The Printer

1.  Press Up Arrow to select <Menu> in the Home screen and press <OK>.

2.  Select <Preferences> and press <OK>.  Select  <Network> and press <OK>.  If the login screen appears, please enter the default [7654321] for both the ID and PIN.

3.  Select <Wireless LAN Settings> and press <OK>.  If the <Do you want to enable the wireless LAN?> message is displayed, select <Yes>.

4.  Read the message that is displayed, and select <OK>.

5.  Select <SSID Settings> and press <OK>

6.  Select <Select Access Point> and press <OK>..  The machine starts searching for available wireless routers.

7.  Select a wireless LAN router.  Select the router whose SSID matches the one that you have written down, and press <OK>.



Note: To view details of security settings on the Touch panel model

  • Select the wireless LAN router, and select <Details>. To return to the original screen, select .

8.  Enter the network key that you have written down.

  •  Enter the network key, and press <OK>.

9.  Select <Yes> and press <OK>.

10.  Wait until message <Connected.> is displayed.

11.  Wait several minutes until the IP address and other items are set automatically.  Select <Close> and press <OK>.


Part 2:  Downloading and Installing the Computer Software

Once your printer has been setup follow the instructions below for downloading and installing your printer.  In the illustrations below we used the imageCLASS LBP215dw for illustration. To download drivers and software for your device, please follow the instructions below:

1. Visit http://consumer.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer

2. Type your model name into the search box and select it from the list that appears. 



3. Click the 'GO' button to get to the Drivers & Downloads page for your model.

4. From the Drivers & Downloads Tab, Select your Operating System from the provided drop-down menu.  The most common drivers to use will be listed in the Recommended Section.  Click [SELECT] next to the printer driver and then click [DOWNLOAD]. 




5. The file will start to download.



6. Once the files have completed downloading click on your download folder to open it and select the file you downloaded which should be
mac-UFRII-v10150-00.dmg.

 


7.  
Click the file titled MF_Printer_Installer.



8.  Click [Continue] on the Welcome Screen.



9. 
Click [Continue] on the Software License Agreement.







10. 
Click [Install] on the Standard Install screen.



11.  Once the installation is completed successfully click [Close].



12.  You can either [Keep] the downloaded file or [Move to Trash].  It is no longer needed at this point.



Part 3:  Setting Up the Printer Driver.

1.  Open your System Preferences folder and click on [Printers & Scanners] icon.



2.  Click on the [+] sign in the lower left corner ot the screen to add a printer.



3..  Click on the Add Printer or Scanner link.  If you click on the other link at this point it may not load the Canon driver.



4..  Now select your printer.



5.  When you select your printer the Name and Use lines at the bottom should automatically fill in.  Make sure the Use line does not say AirPrint.  If it does please change it to the name of your printer.  Now click [Add]. 



6. 
Now click [Add]. 


7.  You should now be able to see your printer in the Printers & Scanners screen.



Congratulations, your drivers are installed and you should be able to print now.
