Setting up the Printer for use on a Wired LAN - Establishing connection with a Windows PC (MB2720 / MB5120 / MB5420)

This article explains how to set up your MAXIFY printer to work on a wired LAN with a Windows PC.

 

Solution

Your printer can be connected to a router via ethernet.  Follow the steps below to configure your printer for use via ethernet.

Connect the printer to a router with an ethernet cable.

Connect your printer to a router with an ethernet cable.  Remove the cap (1) from the ethernet port (2) on the back of the printer.  Then, connect one end of the ethernet cable into the printer.  Connect the other end of the cable into your router.


 

Enable the Wired LAN connection on the printer.

  1. Press the HOME button (A) on the printer.

    If an error screen is displayed, tap OK, then press the HOME button.

  2. Flick the screen left or right, then tap LAN settings.

  3. Tap Change LAN.

  4. Tap Activate wired LAN.



    The ethernet connection between the printer and the router is now active.
     

Run the Setup Program

  1. Access the Setup page for your printer (MB2720 / MB5120 / MB5420), read the information then click the Download button to download the setup file or insert the Setup CD-ROM in the computer's CD Drive.
     
  2. After the file has downloaded, click Run, or, if using the Setup CD-ROM, click Run Msetup4.exe.
     
  3. Click Start Setup.



    Note: If you are using the Setup CD-ROM, you will have an option on this screen that says Use the updated software found on internet.  If you have this option selected, the installer will go out to the internet to obtain the information on the latest drivers and software available for your printer.  If your internet connection is slow and you wish to use the software on the Setup CD-ROM, remove the check from this box.  Then, click Start Setup.
     
  4. The installer will process for a few moments.



    Select your place of residence.  Then, click Next.



    Read through the license agreement.  Then, click Yes to proceed.



    On the Extended Survey Program screen, read through the information regarding this program.  If you choose to participate in this program, click Agree.  If you do not wish to participate, click Do not agree.



    Please note that participation in this program is optional.  If you choose not to participate, this will not affect your ability to use the printer.
     
  5. The setup program will process for a few moments.



    On the Firewall Settings screen, make sure that Deactivate the block is checked.  Then, click Next.


     
  6. On the Select Connection Method screen, select Wired LAN Connection and click Next.


     
  7. On the Check Power screen, make sure that the printer is powered on.  Then, click Next.



    The setup program will search for the printer on the network.


     
  8. On the Select Printer screen, select the printer to be used (verify by Serial Number*) and click Next.

    *Only the last 5 digits will be displayed


     
  9. Drivers will now be installed.  This may take a few minutes depending on the speed of your computer.



    After the drivers have installed, the setup program will process for a few minutes.


     
  10. Click Next on the Test Print Window.



    On the Setup Complete screen, you can choose whether or not you want your MAXIFY printer to be the default printer.  If you have another printer and you do not want your MAXIFY printer to be the default printer, remove the check from the Set as default printer check box.  Then, click Next.


     
  11. On the Software Installation List, select any optional software to install. Click Next.



    The software that you have chosen will then be installed.  This may take several minutes.
     
  12. Skip or complete the User Registration. Follow all instructions if completing the registration.


     
  13. Exit the setup.
