Windows Store Only

Solution

If your Windows 10 PC is set to only allow apps from the Store to be installed, you will see the following message:

This will prevent you from installing drivers and software from the Canon website.

If your PC is set to display a warning before an unverified app is installed, you will see this message when installing a driver or software from the Canon website:

You can change a setting in Windows 10 that will allow you to install apps from anywhere, which will prevent these messages from appearing when attempting to install drivers and software from Canon.  Follow these steps to change this setting.

  1. Click the Start button, then click the Settings  icon.

  2. Click Apps.

  3. On the left side of the window, select Apps & features.

  4. Under Installing apps, click the drop down menu and select Allow apps from anywhere.

Depending on your version of Windows 10, you may have different options in the drop down menu, such as these:

If you see options similar to the ones in the picture above, select either Turn off app recommendations or Show me app recommendations.

This will allow you to install drivers and software from the Canon website without seeing the messages noted above.
