Description

This article explains how to enable or disable the paper width detection function of the PIXMA MG5520 / MG5522 / MG6420.

Solution

Your PIXMA MG5520 / MG5522 / MG6420 can detect the width of the paper being used when printing.  This can help prevent misprinting if the paper loaded in the printer is different from the paper specified on the printer.  To enable or disable this function, follow the steps below.

  1. From the HOME screen, use the up  or down  arrows until Setup appears.  Then, press the right Function button underneath Setup.

  2. Use the left  or right  arrows to highlight Device settings.  Then, press OK.

  3. Press OK on Print settings.

  4. Use the up  or down  arrows to select Detect paper width.  Then, press OK.

  5. Use the up  or down  arrows to select ON or OFF, depending on if you want this function enabled or disabled.  Press OK.

If this function is enabled, the support code 2101 will be displayed if the size of the loaded paper does not match what is specified when printing.
