This article provides steps for setting up the PIXMA iP7220 for use over a wireless LAN on a Mac using downloaded drivers.

You can use drivers downloaded from our website to set up your PIXMA iP7220 for wireless network use with a Mac.  Follow the steps below.
  1. Click here to go to the PIXMA iP7220 support page.  The version of macOS installed on your computer will be automatically detected.  If the website does not detect which version is installed on your computer, select it from the Operating System drop down menu.
  2. You will need to download and install the CUPS printer driver.

    Click the
Select button to the right of the driver.  Then, click Download.
  3. After downloading the driver, click the Software tab under Drivers & Downloads.  In the Software section, click the Select button to the right of the Canon IJ Network Tool.

Click Download after clicking Select for the IJ Network Tool.
  4. After these files have been downloaded, open them.  A window will appear with a package file.

Double click the package file to open it.

Note:  Depending on your computer's security settings, you may receive a message telling you that you cannot open the file because it was not downloaded from the App Store.  If you receive such a message, you can open the file by control clicking or right-clicking on the package file and clicking Open.

  5. Follow all on-screen instructions to install the file that you opened.  Do this for the two files that you downloaded.

If your printer is not currently connected to your wireless network, there are a couple of ways that the connection can be established:
After the network connection has been established:
  1. Click the Apple menu and click System Preferences.  Then, click Print & Fax / Print & Scan / Printers & Scanners (the name will vary depending on which version of the Mac OS you are running on your computer).
  2. Click the + towards the lower left part of the window.  If a list of printers appears directly under the + after it has been clicked, click Add printer or scanner...

  3. In the Add window, wait a few moments and a listing for the iP7220 will appear as a Canon IJ Network device.  Click this to highlight it.  Then, for the Use drop down menu, make sure that Canon iP7200 series is selected.  Click Add to add the printer to your printer list.

The printer is now ready for use from your Mac.
