Description

One of the features of CaptureOnTouch Pro is the ability to do batch separation using barcodes.

NOTE: If you have more than one barcode on the document, you will need to specify the area where CaptureOnTouch will look for the barcode you wish to use for separation.

Solution

Before you can use barcodes with CaptureOnTouch Pro, you must first have purchased (from your dealer) and installed the Barcode Module and/or Barcode Module 2D. Once installed, ensure that the scanner is connected to the computer and you have launched CaptureOnTouch Pro.
  1. From the CaptureOnTouch screen, select the document tile you wish to use (or select the "+ New document" button to create a new one).

  2. Click on the pencil icon.

  3. Click on the "Batch separation" tab and from the drop-down menu "Separation method", choose "Barcode".

  4. Click on the "Detail Settings..." button.

  5. To define which type of barcode you will be using, click on the "Select..." button on the right side of the screen. Select the appropriate barcode.

  6. Load the document that you wish to scan that contains the barcode into the scanner feeder (face down) and press the "Scan" button.

  7. The scanned image will appear on this screen.
Using this screen, you can adjust the specific area where CaptureOnTouch Pro looks for the barcode (using the grab handles and manipulate the box size/location).

  8. Pressing the "Test" button should display the text from the barcode.
If the text does not match or CaptureOnTouch cannot read the barcode, try adjusting the area where the barcode is located.

  9. Once you have this page configured to your liking, click the "OK" button (lower right-hand corner) to save your settings and close this window.

  10. Click the "Close" button to close the "Select document" window.

  11. Click on the drop-down to the right of "Separation paper:" to indicate whether you want the page containing the barcode to be included in the saved document or not.

Click the "Close" button to close this window.

You can now scan documents using a barcode as a page separator.
