Description

Manual print head alignment

 

Solution

Try aligning the print head manually after automatic print head alignment if printing results are not as expected, as when printed ruled lines are misaligned.


 Note


What you will need: three sheets of A4 or Letter-sized plain paper

  1. Check that the printer is turned on.
     

  2. Load three sheets of A4 or Letter-sized plain paper in cassette.

    After inserting the cassette into the printer, the paper setting confirmation screen appears on the touch screen.

    If the page size shown on the touch screen is A4 or Letter, select Yes.

    If not, select Change and change the page size to A4 or Letter.



     Note

    • Be sure to load paper in the cassette. If you load paper on the rear tray, the print head alignment sheet is not printed.
       

  3. Open operation panel and pull out paper output tray.
     

  4. Select (Setup) on the HOME screen.

    The setup menu screen will appear.
     

  5. Select Maintenance.

    The Maintenance screen will appear.
     

  6. Select Manual head alignment.



    The confirmation screen will appear.


     Note

    • To print and check the current head position alignment values, select Print the head alignment value.
       

  7. Check the displayed message and select Yes.

    The print head alignment pattern will be printed.
     

  8. When Did the patterns print correctly? appears, make sure that pattern was printed correctly, and if so, select Yes.
     

  9. Check the displayed message and select Next.

    The input screen for head position alignment values is displayed.



     
  10. Examine first patterns and tap A. In column A, find pattern in which streaks are least noticeable, and then select the number of that pattern.



     Note

    • If all patterns look different, choose the pattern in which vertical streaks are least noticeable.

    • If all patterns look different, choose the pattern in which horizontal streaks are least noticeable.

  11. Repeat these steps until you have finished entering pattern numbers for columns B to H, and then select OK.
     

  12. Check message and select OK.

    The second set of patterns is printed.
     

  13. Examine second patterns and tap I. In column I, find pattern in which streaks are least noticeable, and then select the number of that pattern.



     Note

    • If all patterns look different, choose the pattern in which vertical streaks are least noticeable.

  14. Repeat these steps until you have finished entering pattern numbers for columns J to P, and then select OK.
     

  15. Check message and select OK.

    The third set of patterns is printed.
     

  16. Examine third patterns and tap a. In column a, find pattern in which stripes are least noticeable, and then select the number of that pattern.



     Note

    • If all patterns look different, choose the pattern in which horizontal stripes are least noticeable.

  17. Repeat these steps until you have finished entering pattern numbers for columns b to h, and then select OK.
     

  18. When confirmation message appears, select OK.
