Send a Fax From a PIXMA TR4520 Printer

Learn to send a fax and adjust basic fax functions with your PIXMA TR4520.

Solution

You can send faxes directly from the printer.

 

Send a fax

  1. Turn the printer ON.

  2. Press the FAX button. The Fax standby screen displays.

  3. Load your document(s) on the glass or in the document feeder.

    • When you send a double-sided document, load the document on the glass. Double-sided documents can't be scanned  and sent from the automatic document feeder.

    • Get details on the types and conditions of documents you can scan and how to load originals.
       
  4. Adjust the scan contrast and resolution if necessary. Learn more about settings for sending faxes

  5. Use the numeric buttons to dial the fax / phone number of the recipient.

    • Numeric buttons: Enters a number.

    • RIGHT (Right) button: Enters a space.

    • LEFT (Left) button: Deletes the last character you entered.

    •  (Pound) button: Press the button once to enter #. Press the button twice to enter a P.

    • ​Press the Color button to send a fax in color, or the Black button for black & white. Color is only available if the recipient's fax device supports color faxing.

  6. The printer scans the document.
    Caution Don't open the document cover or unplug the power cord until the scan completes.

  7. If you load the document in the automatic feeder, the printer scans the document and sends the fax.​

    • To cancel a fax transmission, tap Stop.

    • To cancel a fax transmission in progress, tap Stop, then follow the instructions on the screen.

    • If documents remain in the feeder after you stop a fax in progress, Document in ADF [OK] Eject the document displays on the screen. Tap OK to eject the documents.

  8. ​If you load the document on the glass, the first document scans and you're asked if you want to scan additional documents.
    • To send two or more pages, load the next page, then select Color or Black. After you scan all pages, tap OK.

    •  To cancel the transmission, tap Stop.


Good to know

  • When your printer is connected to a PBX (Private Branch Exchange) system, refer to the operating instructions of the system for details on dialing the recipient's fax or phone number.

  • If the printer can't send a fax, (for instance, the recipient's line is busy), it can automatically redial the number after a specified time. Automatic redialing is enabled by default.

  • Unsent documents, such as those pending redial, are stored in the printer's memory. They aren't stored if there is a sending error
