Learn how to use the wireless direct connection method to connect your wireless devices directly your PIXMA TR4520.

 
 

Solution

Follow the steps below to print or scan with wireless direct.

 You can connect up to five devices to the printer at the same time.

Change the printer setting to use wireless direct.

  1. Turn the printer on.

  2. Press the Setup button. The setup menu screen is displayed.

  3. Select Device settings and then press the OK button.

  4. Select LAN settings and then press the OK button.

  5. Select Wireless Direct and then press the OK button.

  6. Select Switch WL Direct and then press the OK button.

  7. Select Yes and then press the OK button.

  8. When the setting is completed, the wireless router info screen is displayed.

  9. Select Done and then press the OK button. Wireless direct is enabled and a device can be connected to the printer wirelessly.

 You can check the items below on the wireless router info screen. Use the left arrow Left and right arrow right buttons to select an item you want to check, and then press the OK button.

  • Network name(SSID): Identifier.

  • Security protocol: Security setting and password.

  • WL Direct dev. name: Printer name displayed on a Wi-Fi direct compatible device.

 Based on the device you use, a password might be required.

  • When you connect a Wi-Fi direct compatible device to the printer, select the printer name from your device.
     

Change the settings of a device and connect it to the printer.

  1. Enable Wi-Fi on your device's settings menu. For more on turning on Wi-Fi® function, check your device's instruction manual.

  2. Select DIRECT-XXXX-TR4500series (X represents alphanumeric characters) from list displayed on your device.

 If DIRECT-XXXX-TR4500series does not appear on the list, wireless direct is not enabled.

  1. Enter the password. Your device is now connected to the printer.

 You can check the password by printing the network settings from the printer.

  • A password might not be required based on your device.

  • If your wireless direct compatible device is set to prioritize Wi-Fi Direct, the printer will display a confirmation screen if you allowed the device to connect to the printer.

  • Make sure the name on the LCD is the same as that of your wireless communication device and select Yes and press the OK button.

 For more information on how to print or scan with your device via Wi-Fi, refer to the device's or application's instruction manual.

  • You can print or scan from your smartphone or tablet with the Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY. Download it from App Store® and Google Play®.
     

Change the wireless direct setting

 If you change the Wireless Direct setting of the printer, also change the wireless router setting of the device.
  1. Turn on the printer.

  2. Press the Setup button. The Setup menu screen is displayed.

  3. Select Device settings and then press the OK button.

  4. Select LAN settings and then press the OK button.

  5. Select Wireless Direct and then press the OK button.

  6. Select a setting item and then press the OK button.

  • Change name (SSID):

    • Auto update

      • Select Auto update and then press the OK button.

      • Select Yes and then press the OK button.

      • Select Done and then press the OK button.

         If you select Network name(SSID) and press the OK button, you can check the updated identifier (SSID).

    • Manual setup

      • Select Manual setup and then press the OK button.

      • Enter new printer name and then press the OK button.

      • Confirm your entries and press the OK button.

  • Change password:

    • Manual setup

      • Select Manual setup and then press the OK button.

      • Enter a new password and then press the OK button. The password must be 10 characters long.

    • Auto update

      • Select Auto update and then press the OK button.

      • Select Yes and then press the OK button.

      • Select Done and then press the OK button.

         If you select Security protocol instead of Done, you can check the updated password.

  • Confirm request:

    • To display the confirmation screen when a Wi-Fi Direct compatible device is connecting to the printer, select Yes and press the OK button.

       To prevent an unauthorized access, we recommend you should not change the setting from default.
