General Notes

  • Professional Print & Layout cannot be started if a printer that supports Professional Print & Layout has not been added.

  • Unavailable on other user accounts if switched via Fast User Switching.

  • If Professional Print & Layout is not displayed in the menu of Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, or Lightroom even after installing Professional Print & Layout, follow these steps to install the Photoshop plug-in.

    1. Exit Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, or Lightroom.

    2. Select Applications from the Go menu of Finder, and then double-click Canon Utilities > Professional Print & Layout > Install Files > the Plug-In Install icon.

    3. Follow the on-screen instructions to install.

      • The Photoshop plug-in may not be installed if Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, or Lightroom has never been started.

      • If using Lightroom, the Photoshop plug-in must be installed on a user-by-user basis. If you have multiple user accounts on the computer, install it on a user-by-user basis.

  • There are differences between the color tones of images displayed on the monitor and those of the print results.

Available Data Formats

  • JPEG (.jpg, .jpeg)

  • TIFF (.tif, .tiff)

When starting from supported application

  • One color (8 bits or 16 bits) per pixel RGB data formats supported by the application

Using the Contrast Reproduction Function

  • The contrast reproduction function requires a large amount of memory for its process. For optimal use, we recommend that you use the function on a computer with 16 GB or more of memory. At the least, use it on a computer with 8 GB or more of memory.

    • If it is used on a computer with 16 GB or less of memory, the computer may run slow due to memory shortage. To prevent memory shortage, consider taking the following actions.

      • If unnecessary applications are running, close them.

      • Do not print multiple items at one time; print one sheet at a time.

Even if the above actions are taken, the computer may run slow depending on the environment. In that case, reducing the print paper size may improve the situation.

  • The contrast reproduction function prevents degradation of sharpness in the details when printing. Therefore, the effect may not be obvious depending on the subject.
