Connecting Your Printer to a Wireless LAN (WPS PIN Code) - iP8720

This article shows how to start a wireless connection of your PIXMA iP8720 to a wireless LAN using the WPS PIN code method.

 

Solution

One way to connect your printer wirelessly is with the WPS PIN code method.

This method requires you to be familiar with your wireless router settings. Most users find a simpler connection method to be more successful.

To utilitze a simpler connection method, please refer to How to Start Cableless Setup - iP8720.


To connect your PIXMA iP8720 to a wireless router using the WPS PIN code method, please follow the steps below.
 
  1. Load a sheet of A4 or Letter-sized plain paper.
     

  2. Hold down the RESUME/CANCEL button (A) on the printer until the (white) POWER lamp flashes 6 times, then release the RESUME/CANCEL button after the sixth flash.

    The wireless connection setting information including the PIN code will be printed (an example of this document is attached to this article).



     
  3. Hold down the RESUME/CANCEL button on the printer until the (white) POWER lamp flashes 8 times, then release the RESUME/CANCEL button after the eighth flash.



     
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions on the device (such as a smartphone) to set the WPS PIN CODE described on the printed Network Configuration Page to the access point.
     

  5. Make sure that the (blue) Wi-Fi lamp (B) on the printer is lit.
