Solution
If the printer is not detected during USB setup on a Windows 10 computer and a message "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware because a previous instance of the device driver is still in memory- code 38" appears, try the following:
- Click the Settings icon in the start menu, then select Devices -> Connected Devices ->Device Manager
- Double-click Universal Seial Bus Controllers
- Right-click USB Printing Support (if in the list), click Uninstall, then OK
- Hold down the Shift Key and shut down the computer
- Restart the computer and retry setup
