Silent Shooting

You can shoot silently, using the sensor's electronic shutter feature, instead of with the mechanical shutter normally used in still photo shooting. Continuous shooting is also possible. This is useful when shooting where the camera must be quiet.
Available in <  >, , <  >, or <  > drive mode.
(NOTE:  Silent Shooting requires firmware version 1.1.0 or later.)
 
1. Select .
2. Select [Enable].
3. Select the drive mode.

▶ As you shoot, a white frame is        displayed around the screen.
  • Be responsible when using silent shooting, and respect subject privacy and portrait rights.
  • With fast-moving subjects, shots of the subject may be distorted, or, in continuous shooting with Servo AF, shots may be out of focus.
  • with some lenses and under some shooting conditions, lens focusing and aperture adjustment may be audible.
  • AEB shooting and flash photography are not available.
  • High-speed display is not used in silent shooting, even when the drive mode is set to .
 
Setting  to [Disable] restores the original setting for .
