Formatting the card
Before using a new memory card or a card formatted in another device, you should format the card with this camera.
 When the card is formatted, all images and data on the card will be erased. Even protected images will be erased, so make sure there is nothing you need to keep. If necessary, transfer the images to a personal computer, etc., before formatting the card. |

1. Access the [Format] screen.
- Choose [Format] on the
 tab, and then press the  button.

2. Choose [OK].
- Press the
 buttons or turn the  dial to choose [OK], and then press the button.

3. Format the memory card.
- To begin the formatting process, press the
 buttons or turn the dial to choose [OK], then press the button.
- When formatting is finished, [Memory card formatting complete] is displayed. Press the button.

Low-level formatting

- On the screen in step 2 of "Formatting Memory cards", press the
 button to choose [Low Level Format]. A  icon is displayed.
- Follow step 2 in "Formatting memory cards" to continue with the formatting process.
