This setting allows you to turn the printer on or off automatically to save electricity.
Turning on the Printer Automatically
You can enable the printer to turn on automatically when printing data is sent to the printer or the printer is operated for scanning from the computer.

Make sure that the printer is turned on.

Press the Setup 
button.
The Setup menu screen is displayed.

Use the arrow buttons 
to select ECO settings and then press the OK button.

Use the arrow buttons to select Auto power on and then press the OK button.

Use the arrow buttons to select ON and then press the OK button.
Turning off the Printer Automatically
If the printer is connected to a phone line to send / receive faxes, the printer power will not turn off automatically.
You can enable the printer to turn off automatically when no operation is made or no printing data is sent to the printer for a specified period of time.

Make sure that the printer is turned on.

Press the Setup button.
The Setup menu screen is displayed.

Use the arrow buttons to select ECO settings and then press the OK button.

Use the arrow buttons to select Auto power off and then press the OK button.

Select a time to turn off the printer and then press the OK button.
