If you experience misaligned prints from your PIXMA MX432 / MX439, a manual print head alignment may help resolve the issue.

Solution

Manual Print Head Alignment

Follow these steps to align the print head position manually from your Mac®:

Note Learn how to align the print head automatically from the printer's operation panel.

  1. Open the IJ Printer Utility.

  2. Select Custom Settings from the pop-up menu.

  3. Check the Align heads manually check box to switch head alignment to manual.

  4. Click Apply to apply the settings, then when the confirmation message appears, click OK.

  5. Select Test Print from the pop-up menu.

  6. Select Print Head Alignment.

  7. Load three sheets of A4 size or Letter size plain paper into the front tray of your machine.

  8. To execute head alignment, make sure the machine is ON, click Align Print Head, then follow the instruction in the message.

  9. Check the printed pattern.

    Enter the numbers of the patterns with the least amount of streaks in the associated boxes. Even if the patterns with the least amount of streaks are clicked in the preview window, their numbers are automatically entered in the associated boxes.

  10. After you enter all the necessary values, click OK.

Tip If it is difficult to pick the best pattern, pick the setting that produces the least noticeable vertical white streaks as shown below.

(A) Less noticeable vertical white streaks.
(B) More noticeable vertical white streaks.

Tip If it is difficult to pick the best pattern, pick the setting that produces the least noticeable horizontal white streaks as shown below.

(A) Less noticeable horizontal white streaks.

  1. Confirm the displayed message and click OK, then the second pattern is printed.

  2. Check the printed pattern.
    Enter the numbers of the patterns with the least amount of streaks in the associated boxes. Even if the patterns with the least amount of streaks are clicked in the preview window, their numbers are automatically entered in the associated boxes.

  3. When you have entered all the necessary values, click OK.

  1. When you have entered all the necessary values, click OK.

  1. Click OK to adjust the head position.
    Note To print and check the current setting, open the Start Print Head Alignment dialog box, and click Print Alignment Value.
