Solution

The nozzle check function allows you to check the print head status with a nozzle check pattern print out. Perform this function if you experience poor print quality like incorrect colors, and streaked or banded prints. Please follow the steps below.

Print the nozzle check pattern

  1. Open the Canon IJ Printer Assistant Tool.

  2. Select Nozzle Check.

Select Nozzle Check (outlined in red) in the IJ Printer Assistant Tool

  1. The Nozzle Check dialog box opens.

If you select Initial Check Items, the items that need to be confirmed before the nozzle check pattern starts to print will be displayed.

  1. Set the paper thickness lever (A) to the right, and load one sheet of A4 size or Letter size plain paper into the rear tray.

Slide the paper thickness lever (A) to the right (shown in inset)

  2. Make sure the printer is powered on, and then select Print Check Pattern.

  3. Select OK when the confirmation message appears.

  4. The Pattern Check dialog box opens.

  5. Check the print result. If the print result is normal, select Exit.

  6. If the print result is smudged or if there are any unprinted sections, select Cleaning to clean the print head.
