If your prints contain incorrect colors, streaked prints, etc., a print head cleaning will unclog the print head nozzles and may help resolve the issue. Please follow the steps below.
Clean the print head
-
Select Utilities from the Remote UI.
-
Select Cleaning.
-
Make sure the printer is powered on.
-
Open the printer's top cover.
-
Review the items below. Then, if necessary, clean the print head.
-
Verify there is ink in the tanks.
-
Make sure the ink tanks are pushed in completely until you hear a click sound.
-
Verify all the orange tape are peeled off completely. Any tape that remain will hinder ink output.
-
Make sure the ink tanks are installed in their correct positions.
-
Select Yes. Print head cleaning starts.
-
The nozzle check pattern message is displayed.
-
To check whether the print quality has improved, select Yes. To cancel, select No.
-
If you select Yes, check the results after the pattern has printed.
-
If cleaning the head once does not resolve the print head problem, clean it once more.
Good to know.
-
Print head cleaning consumes a small amount of ink.
-
Cleaning the print head frequently will rapidly deplete your printer's ink supply. Perform the process only when necessary.
-
If one round of print head cleaning does not resolve the problem, clean it once more.
-
If two print head cleanings don't improve the print quality, try deep print head cleaning.
