Solution

Review the information below to resolve support code 1688, the ink has runs out.

Resolve support code 1688

  1. Replace the ink tank

  2. Close the print head cover.
     

Good to know

 Printing with the support code1688 warning may damage the printer.

  • If you want to continue printing in this condition, you need to disable the ink level detection function. Press and hold the printer's Stop button for at least 5 seconds, and then release it.

  • Without the ink level detection function, the printer will not check the level of ink that remains for the ink tank or tanks in question.

  • Please be advised that Canon shall not be liable for any malfunction or trouble which may be caused if you continue to print with out of ink support code 1688 warning.

 If the ink level detection function is disabled, the ink tank is displayed in gray on the Estimated ink levels screen on the LCD.
