Reconnect the Printer to a Wireless Network with Canon PRINT Inkjet / SELPHY (iOS)

Description

If your network has changed (new router, change of password or network name), you can use Canon PRINT Inkjet / SELPHY on your iOS device to reconnect the printer to the network.

Solution

If your network has changed (new router, change of password or network name), the Canon PRINT Inkjet / SELPHY app on your iOS device can be used to reconnect the printer to the network. Follow the steps below to use the app to reconnect the printer to your network.

  1. Set your printer into Cableless Setup / Easy Wireless Connect mode. This will prepare the printer to accept the information it needs to connect to your wireless network.

  2. On your iOS® device, go to the device settings and select Wi-Fi®.

  3. Select the SSID that your printer broadcasts (depending on the model, it may be Canon_ij_Setup or an SSID that has the model name in it, such as Canon_ij_053xx_MG6800series). Enter the password to connect to it if prompted. Learn more about the printer's default password.

  4. Once you connect to the printer's SSID, open the Canon PRINT Inkjet / SELPHY app.

  5. When the app opens, you will be asked if you want to add the following printer. Tap Yes.

  6. On the Select Wireless Router screen, tap on your network.

    Tap on the name of your network in the list

  7. Enter your network password when prompted. Tap OK.

     You can tap the Show password box to display the password that you have entered in. This will ensure that you have properly entered the network password.

    The network information will be sent to the printer. The printer will then try to connect to the network. Please wait.

  8. After the printer has connected to your wireless network, the main screen will appear.

    You can now use your printer with your iOS device again.

 If your printer fails to connect to your wireless network, start again from step 1. Make sure that your password has been properly entered in step 7. if the printer still fails to connect, try power cycling your printer and wireless router.
