Solution

What are the conditions for shooting at the maximum burst during high-speed continuous shooting? (EOS R5)
ID: 8204818600_EN_4
Solution

When the Shutter Mode is Set to [ Mechanical ] or [ Elec. 1st-curtain]

  • When using RF lenses or some compatible EF lenses, the continuous shooting speed of [  ](High-speed continuous shooting+) and [  ](High-speed continuous shooting) changes in up to three stages as in the table below in response to factors, such as battery type/remaining capacity, use of a battery grip/wireless file transmitter, number of battery packs used, use of a DC coupler/USB power adaptor, lens used, temperature, whether the built-in Wi-Fi is ON or OFF, etc.

Icon Display Continuous shooting speed (Approx. shots/sec.)
Green White White (Blinking)
12 9.2 6.8
For [Elec. 1st-curtain] 8.0 6.0 4.9
For [Mechanical] 6.0 5.1 3.9
- 3.0

* The maximum burst during continuous shooting may be slower depending on the shutter speed, aperture, use of flash, flicker reduction, subject conditions, brightness (shooting in a dark environment), etc.

  • The conditions under which the continuous shooting speed is approximately 12 shots per second in [  ] (High-speed continuous shooting+) are as follows.

Battery Grip BG-R10 (sold separately) Power Source Temperature Wi-Fi Settings Remaining Battery Capacity Lens Used
OFF Battery Pack LP-E6NH Room temperature (+23℃) OFF Approx. 60% or higher When RF lenses or certain EF lenses are used*
DC coupler DR-E6 (sold separately) 0℃ or higher -
ON LP-E6NH (2 pcs.) Room temperature (+23℃) Both battery packs at approx. 60% or higher

*For details on the EF lenses, see "EF Lenses Supporting 12 Shots/Sec. Continuous Shooting".

  • Even if the remaining battery capacity is lower than what is listed in the table above, depending on the level of battery recharge performance and shooting conditions, a maximum burst of approx. 12 shots per second may still be possible.
  • When using Battery Pack LP-E6N, with the battery at near full capacity and used at room temperature (+23℃), a maximum burst of approx. 12 shots per second is possible. (The amount of remaining battery capacity to allow a maximum burst of approx. 12 shots per second depends on the level of battery recharge performance and shooting conditions.)

IMPORTANT
  • Continuous shooting speed may become slower when using battery packs with weaker recharge performance.
  • Under the following conditions, continuous shooting of approx. 12 shots per second cannot be performed.
- Wi-Fi connection: ON
- One Battery Pack LP-E6NH is used when the Battery Grip BG-R10 (sold separately) is in use
- Battery Pack LP-E6 is used
- Wireless File Transmitter WFT-R10 (sold separately) is used
- USB Power Adaptor PD-E1 (sold separately) is used
  • During Servo AF, depending on subject conditions or the lens used, the continuous shooting speed may be slower.
  • With [ : Anti-flicker shoot.] set to [Enable], the continuous shooting speed may be slower when shooting under flickering light. In addition, the continuous shooting interval may become irregular and the release time lag may become longer.
  • When internal memory becomes full during continuous shooting, the continuous shooting speed may drop off because shooting will be temporarily disabled.

When the Shutter Mode is set to [Electronic]

During continuous shooting, if the following conditions are satisfied, high-speed continuous shooting (maximum burst of 20 shots per sec.) is performed.

  • The lens is set to maximum aperture except for when using an EF-S lens*.
*For details on the lenses, see "List of lenses that the continuous shooting speed of max. approx. 20 fps less likely to decrease".

  • The continuous shooting speed may change in response to the shutter speed, aperture, aperture status during continuous shooting, subject conditions, brightness (shooting in a dark environment, etc.), type of lens, etc.
