Cleaning the Print Head Deeply from the Operation Panel - TR7020

Description

If print head cleanings do not improve poor print quality issues (streaked / banded prints, incorrect colors, blank pages, etc.), a deep print head cleaning may resolve the problem.

Solution

If print quality does not improve by the standard cleaning of the print head, clean the print head deeply. Cleaning the print head deeply consumes more ink than the standard cleaning of the print head, so clean the print head deeply only when necessary.

You will need a sheet of A4 or Letter-sized plain paper.

  1. Check that printer is turned on.

  2. Load a sheet of A4 or Letter-sized plain paper in the cassette.

  3. Press the OK button.

  4. Select Maintenance.

  5. Select Deep Cleaning.

    The confirmation screen will appear.

  6. Select Yes.

    The printer starts cleaning the print head deeply.

    Do not perform any other operations until the printer completes the deep cleaning of the print head. This takes about 1 to 2 minutes.

    The pattern print confirmation screen will appear.

  7. Select Yes.

  8. Press the OK button.

    The nozzle check pattern will be printed.

  9. When the completion message appears, select OK.

  10. Examine the nozzle check pattern.

If the problem is not resolved, turn off the power and clean the print head deeply again after 24 hours.

If the problem persists, replace the ink cartridge(s).

If the problem persists despite replacing the ink cartridge(s), your printer will require servicing.

There are two options currently available to you.

  1. Warranty Service – If you are within the 1-year manufacturer’s warranty and have your proof of purchase you are entitled to service or replacement. If you have purchased a CarePak Canon extended warranty, you may be entitled to additional options.  Please create or log into your Canon Account to obtain service.
     
  2. Out of Warranty – If you are outside of your warranty period, you do qualify for a replacement through the Canon Upgrade Program. Please contact our Sales group to inquire about your upgrade options at 866-443-8002.
