To be able to use the printer via Ethernet on a Mac, the printer must first be connected to the network with an Ethernet cable. Then, drivers need to be installed on the computer.  The instructions / screenshots below show the setup program steps when setting up the printer to work via Ethernet (wired LAN connection).

The setup process consists of 2 parts: 

  1. Setting up the printer to communicate via Ethernet, and

  2. Downloading and running the setup file to install the software.

 

Set up the printer to communicate via Ethernet

Prior to starting setup on the computer, set up the printer to communicate via Ethernet. Then complete the setup on the computer.
See the procedure below to set up the printer to communicate via Ethernet.

  1. With the printer powered on and displaying the HOME screen, use the arrows to select LAN settings, then press the OK button.

  2. Wi-Fi will be selected. Select Wired LAN, then press the OK button.

  3. On the Wired LAN setting list screen, press the OK button.

  4. Enable / disable Wired LAN will be selected. Press the OK button.

  5. Select Enable, then press the OK button.

    The Ethernet port on the printer will be activated.

Download and run the setup file.*

Get the Setup File

Click Setup icon in the Dock, follow the on-screen instructions to proceed with setup.

* Double-click the downloaded .dmg file if the setup icon did not appear

  1. Click Next.

    Click Next (outlined in red) to proceed

  2. Enter your computer's password and click Install Helper.

  3. Click Start Setup.

  4. Click Next.

    The installer will acquire information on the latest software for your printer. This may take a few moments.

  5. Click Yes on the License Agreement. If you click No, the installer will not proceed.

  6. Select Do not agree or Agree.

    If Do not agree was selected, the following information appears.  Click OK.

    If you selected Do not agree, click OK (outlined in red) on this message

    The installer will process for a few moments.

    The installer will check the printer status.

  7. Click Yes on the Check the Connection Method screen.

    Click Yes (outlined in red) to proceed

     If the printer is not detected,  disable any firewall software if possible. If you are connected to a VPN (Virtual Private Network), temporarily disconnect from the VPN and try again.

  8. The installer will download and install the printer driver. This may take a few minutes.

    The installer will download and install IJ Scan Utility

  9. When this screen appears, click Add Printer.

  10. Select the printer with Bonjour listed in the Kind column. Select Canon PRO-200 series for Use: and click Add.

    Select the printer with Bonjour Multifunction listed in the Kind column, then click Add (outlined in red)

  11. Click Next.

    Click Next (outlined in red) to proceed

  12. After the installer processes for a few moments, click Next.

  13. Click Continue online. The installer will close.
