If you need to re-install the drivers for your printer, you can use the Print Driver and Scan Utility Installer instead of the driver setup package available from Canon. Follow the instructions below to use the MP Driver installer to install the drivers for your printer.
-
Go to the support page for the printer.
-
Click Download to the right of the Print Driver and Scan Utility Installer.
-
If asked to run or save the file to your computer, save it. Then, run the file.
-
When the installer opens, connect the USB cable between the printer and computer (if using via USB), then click Next.
Clicking Set will allow you to change the language displayed by the installer.
-
Select your place of residence, then click Next.
-
Read the License Agreement. Click Yes to proceed. If you click No, the installation won't proceed.
-
Select your printer from the list. Then, click Next.
If the printer isn't detected, click Search Again. If the printer still isn't detected, click Printer(s) Not Found. This will open a window providing suggestions on what to check, depending on if you're connecting the printer via USB or using it on a network. Click Instructions for more information on how to proceed. Click Close to close this window.
If you plan to use the printer wirelessly with this computer, make sure it's connected to the network. Make sure your computer is connected to the correct network. If your computer is connected to a Virtual Private Network (VPN), temporarily disconnect from the VPN and click Search Again to have your computer search for the printer. You may also need to open some ports in your firewall.
-
The drivers will be installed. This may take several minutes.
-
After the drivers have been installed, click Exit to close the installer.
If you have other printers on your computer and you don't want this one to be the default printer for your computer, remove the check from Set as default printer before clicking Exit.
You can change the name of the printer listing before clicking Exit. To do this, click Change Printer Information. The following window will appear:
Change the printer's name as well as its Location and Comment information (if desired), then click OK.
The Location and Comment information is displayed when opening the Printer Properties page.
