You can use a USB cable to set up a wireless connection for your PIXMA G620 with a Mac.

To be able to use your printer to print or scan wirelessly on a Mac, the printer must first be connected to the wireless network. Then, applications must be installed on the computer.

 

Download and run the setup file.*

Get the Setup File

Read the information carefully taking note how to run the setup file if setup does not start automatically. Then click the "Download" button.

  1. A helper tool will be installed. Select Next.

    Click Next (outlined in red)

    You'll be prompted to enter your computer's password to continue. Enter the password for your computer, then select Install Helper.

  2. Select Start Setup.

  1. Read the network security notice and select Next.

    The installer will acquire information on the latest software available for the printer. This may take several minutes.

  2. Read the license agreement. Select Yes to continue.  If you select No, the installation won't continue.

  3. Select Agree or Do not Agree to the information request.

    If you select Do not agree, a message will appear. Select OK to continue.

    After processing for a few moments, the instailer will check the printer's status.

  4. Select Wi-Fi Connection, then click Next.

  5. With the printer powered on, click Next.

    The installer will search for the printer on the network.

  6. Click Next.

  7. Click Next. Don't press the button on the printer as instructed on this screen.

  10. Connect the printer to the computer with a USB cable.

    The installer will process for a few moments.

  11. You'll be prompted to allow the installer to access the keychain. Select Allow.

  12. After processing for a few moments, the connection is completed. Click Next.

     If your printer isn't detected, you may need to temporarily disable any security software, or, if you don't want to do that, you may need to open up ports that the printer uses for network communcation. Please refer to the documentation for your security software for information on how to open these ports.

  13. Disconnect the USB cable, then click Next.

    The IJ Scan Utility will be installed. This may take several minutes.

  14. After processing for a few moments, the Add Printer dialog will appear. Select Add Printer.

  15. When the Add Printer dialog opens, select the Canon G600 series listing. Select AirPrint or Secure AirPrint for Use:, then click Add.

  16. Select Next.

  17. When this screen appears, click Next.

  18. The installer will process for a few moments. When this screen appears, click Continue online.

 Before printing, go to Printers & Scanners in System Preferences. Here, you'll find two listings for your printer. One of the listings was added when the USB cable was connected. Select this listing for the printer (normally it will show as Canon G600 series), then click the minus symbol below the printer list.

Choose the printer to delete, then click the minus symbol under the printer list

When prompted, click Delete Printer.

If you don't do this before printing, the computer may send the print job to the wrong printer listing. You may receive an error indicating that the printer is offline. Removing this additional printer listing before printing will prevent communication errors from occurring.
