Solution

You can obtain information about your printer through Canon Inkjet Smart Connect. This includes general device information, as well as the status of the printer, ink levels, and access to utilities. Follow the steps below to obtain this information.

  1. From the main screen, click on your printer at the bottom, or click the Printer Management icon on the left.

Click the printer at the bottom, or click the Printer Management icon on the left (both outlined in red)

  2. The Device Information screen appears. Here, you will see the name of your printer, the name of the port it uses, its IP address (if on a network), and other information. You can click Open Remote UI if you want to access the web interface to the printer. You can also click Manual to access the online manual for your printer.

  5. Clicking Utilities will show some basic utilities you can run on your printer. For example, if your prints look incorrect (streaks / banding, incorrect colors, blank pages), you can perform a nozzle check to see if the printer is properly printing. You can also perform a print head cleaning to address clogged print head nozzles, and you can also perform a print head alignment if your prints are misaligned.
