Cleaning the Print Heads
The print head Cleaning and Deep Cleaning functions allow you to clear up clogged print head nozzles. Perform print head Cleaning if printing results are not satisfactory or if a specific color fails to print, even though there is enough ink.
Cleaning
-
Select Utilities from the Remote UI.
-
Click Cleaning.
Before performing a print head cleaning, check the following items:
Check whether the printer is on and open the printer's cover.
Check the following items for each ink. Then, if necessary, perform a print head cleaning.
-
Click Yes.
Print head cleaning starts.
Next, the message for Nozzle Check pattern printing is displayed.
-
To check whether the print quality has improved, click Yes. To cancel the check process, click No.
If cleaning the head once does not resolve the print head problem, clean it once more.
Cleaning consumes a small amount of ink. Cleaning the print head frequently will rapidly deplete your printer's ink supply. Perform a print head cleaning only when necessary.
Deep Cleaning
Deep cleaning is more thorough than a standard cleaning. Perform a deep cleaning when two standard cleaning attempts do not resolve the print head problem.
-
Select Utilities from the Remote UI.
-
Click Deep Cleaning.
Before performing a deep cleaning, check the following items:
Check whether the printer is on and open the printer's cover.
Check the following items for each ink. Then, if necessary, perform a deep cleaning.
-
Click Yes.
Print head deep cleaning starts.
Next, the message for Nozzle Check pattern printing is displayed.
-
To check whether the print quality has improved, click Yes. To cancel the check process, click No.
Deep cleaning consumes a larger amount of ink than a standard cleaning. Cleaning the print head frequently will rapidly deplete your printer's ink supply. Perform a deep cleaning only when necessary.
If there is no sign of improvement after a deep cleaning, turn off the printer, wait 24 hours, and then perform a deep cleaning again.
If there is no sign of improvement after two deep cleanings, replace the ink cartridge(s).
If replacing the ink cartridge(s) does not resolve the problem, your printer will require servicing.
