Replace the Print Head - GX5020 / GX6020 / GX7020

Description

This article shows how to replace the print head in the MAXIFY GX5020 / GX6020 / GX7020.

Solution

To replace the print head in the MAXIFY GX5020 / GX6020 / GX7020, follow these steps.

  1. Turn on the machine.

  2. Set the machine to the print head replacement mode. Press the HOME  button once, then press and hold the Stop  button for five or more seconds.

     For the GX5020, press the Back  button once, then press and hold the Stop  button for five or more seconds. When the following message appears,  proceed to step 4.

  3. Special notes will appear on the next screen. Confirm them, then select Yes.

    Tap Yes (outlined in red)

    You may need to wait for a few minutes for the next instructions to appear.

  4. Open the top cover of the printer.

  5. As shown on the screen, release lever 1, then lever 2.

    Tap Next.

  6. Remove the print head from the print head holder.

  7. Remove the replacement print head from its container.

    Don't touch the nozzles on the bottom, don't touch the circuit board on the back, and don't drop the print head.

  8. Place the print head, slowly and securely, into the print head holder so that it doesn't touch the parts around it.

  9. As shown on the screen, lock lever 2, then lever 1.

    Tap Next.

     For the GX5020, press the OK button.

  10. As shown on the screen, lift up the cover, then slowly close it.

    After a few minutes, the home screen is displayed. The print head replacement process is complete.
