Description

Learn how to deeply clean the print head of the PIXMA TR4720 from its operation panel. If you're experiencing poor print quality (banded / streaked prints, incorrect colors, blank pages), a deep print head cleaning may resolve the problem if standard cleanings fail to improve print quality.

Solution

Deep Print Head Cleaning

If print quality does not improve by the standard cleaning of the print head, clean the print head deeply. Cleaning the print head deeply consumes more ink than the standard cleaning of the print head, so clean the print head deeply only when necessary.

  1. Make sure that the printer is powered on.

  2. Press the Setup  button, use the Left arrow Right arrow buttons to select Maintenance, and press the OK button.

  3. Use the Left arrow Right arrow buttons to select Deep Cleaning and then press the OK button.

The printer starts cleaning the print head deeply.

Don't perform any other operations until the printer completes the deep cleaning of the print head. This takes about 1 minute.

  4. To check the print head condition, print the nozzle check pattern.

If the problem isn't resolved, turn off the power and clean the print head deeply again after 24 hours. Don't unplug the power cord when turning off the power.

If the problem is still not resolved, replace the ink cartridge with a new one. If the problem is still not resolved after replacing the ink cartridge, the printer requires servicing.
