Solution
Setting an Administrator Password
Change the administrator password by following the steps below.
The password is set at the time of purchase.The password is the printer serial number.The printer serial number is printed on the sticker attached on the printer.It consists of 9 alphanumeric characters (four letters followed by five numbers).
If the administrator password is not set, you will be asked to confirm that you want to set the password.Select Yes.
Select Remote UI and other tools or Operation panel / Remote UI / other tools.
If you want to use user management, you must select Operation panel / Remote UI / other tools.
Enter the current password and the new password, and then select OK.
If the administrator password is not set, the Current password text box is not displayed.
The password must be between 4 and 32 characters.
For security reasons, we recommend you use eight or more alphanumeric characters.
When the completion message is displayed, select OK.
With the printer powered on and displaying the HOME screen, select the Setup icon.
Select Device settings.
Select Administrator password settings.
When the confirmation screen of the administrator password setting is displayed, select Yes.
If no administrator password is has been set, the registration confirmation message is displayed.
Select Yes. When the following message is displayed, select OK and proceed to step 7.
Select Change administrator password.
If you don't want an administrator password, select Remove administrator password.
Select Yes in the displayed screen.
When the following message is displayed, select OK.
The password is removed.
Select the effective range of the administrator password.
Remote UI and other tools
To change the setting using the remote UI or a certain software, the administrator password needs to be entered.
LCD, Remote UI, and other tools
To change the setting using the operation panel of this printer, remote UI or a certain software, the administrator password needs to be entered.
Tap Enter password.
By default, when entering a password for the printer, it is masked, meaning that any characters entered will appear as asterisks . Select Show password on this screen to show the characters as they are entered.
When changing the password, the character is limited as follows.
Set the password using 4 to 32 characters.
Only alphanumeric characters are available.
From a security point of view, it is recommended to set the password of 8 characters or more in combination of alphanumeric characters.
Select Apply.
Enter the administrator password again.
By default, when entering a password for the printer, it is masked, meaning that any characters entered will appear as asterisks . Select Show password on this screen to show the characters as they are entered.
Select Apply.
The administrator password is available.
When the administrator password is canceled or the effective range of the administrator password is set to Remote UI and other tools, the user management is disabled.
