Description

Learn how to print a nozzle check pattern from the MAXIFY GX5020. If you're experiencing poor print quality (banded / streaked prints, incorrect colors, blank pages), a nozzle check will help you determine if the print head nozzles are clogged.

Solution

Printing the Nozzle Check Pattern

Print the nozzle check pattern to determine whether the ink ejects properly from the print head nozzle.

If the remaining ink level is low, the nozzle check pattern will not be printed correctly. Refill any low ink tanks.

You will need a sheet of A4 or Letter-sized plain paper.

  1. Make sure that printer is powered on.

  2. Load a sheet of A4 or Letter-sized plain paper in the cassette.

  3. Press the Setup  button, use the Left arrow Right arrow buttons to select Maintenance, and press the OK button.

  4. Use the Left arrow Right arrow buttons to select Nozzle check, and press the OK button.

Select Nozzle check (outlined in red)

The nozzle check pattern will be printed.

Don't perform any other operations until the printer completes the printing of the nozzle check pattern.

  5. Examine the nozzle check pattern.

Examining the Nozzle Check Pattern

Examine the nozzle check pattern, and clean the print head if necessary.

Check if there are missing lines in the pattern A or horizontal streaks in the pattern B.

  2. Bad (lines are missing)

If one of the above appears on the nozzle check pattern, cleaning the print head is required.
