Description

Learn how to perform an ink flush from the operation panel of the MAXIFY GX5020. Note that this will consume a lot of ink. Only perform this procedure when necessary.

Solution

If two deep cleanings don't resolve poor print quality issues you're experiencing (banded / streaked prints, incorrect colors, blank pages), an ink flush may resolve the problem. Before performing this procedure, keep the following points in mind:

Before performing an ink flush, check the remaining ink level of all colors. If the remaining ink level is below the single dot (A), refill the ink tank of corresponding color.

Ink level below single dot (A)

When performing an ink flush, check the free space of the maintenance cartridge. Ink flush consumes a lot of ink, and the consumed ink is discharged to the maintenance cartridge. If the free space is low, replace it with a new maintenance cartridge. If the available capacity of the maintenance cartridge is low, a message is displayed and ink flush cannot be performed.

Follow these steps to perform an ink flush.

  1. Make sure the printer is powered on.

  2. Press the Setup  button once or twice.

    The Setup menu screen appears.

  3. Select Maintenance and press the OK button.

  4. Select Ink Flush and press the OK button.

  5. Select All colors, Color or BK and press the OK button.

  6. Check the displayed message and press the OK button.

  7. Check the displayed message, select Yes and then press OK button.

  8. Check the displayed message, select Yes and then press OK button.

  9. The ink flush starts.

Don't perform any operations while ink flush is in progress. It takes approximately seven minutes to complete.
