Paper Does Not Feed Properly - GX5020

Description

Learn what to do if the MAXIFY GX5020 is not properly feeding in paper and there is no paper jam.

Solution

If the paper isn't jammed (the support code isn't displayed) and the paper isn't fed normally, follow the procedure below.

 See what to do if support code 1300 / 1303 / 1304 / 1313 is displayed on the printer's LCD.

  1. Is anything blocking paper output slot? If so, remove any objects blocking the paper output slot.

  2. Are the transport unit and and rear cover attached properly?

     See the positions of the transport unit and the rear cover.

  3. Are there any foreign objects in rear tray?

    If there is a foreign object inside the rear tray, remove it without touching the parts in the center of the rear tray by following the steps below.

    1. Turn the printer off and unplug it.

    2. Fold a sheet of A4 or Letter size paper in half and insert it horizontally into the rear tray.

    3. Reach between the paper and rear tray to remove any foreign objects.

       Don't touch the parts in the center of the rear tray. It could damage the printer.

    4. Remove the sheet of paper that you inserted in step 2.

     When checking the rear tray or removing any foreign objects, don't turn the printer upside down or tilt it. The ink may leak out.

  4. Is the paper curled?

    Correct the curl before loading the paper.

  5. Is the paper loaded properly?

    Always load paper in portrait orientation (A). If you load paper in landscape orientation (B), paper may not be fed or a paper jam may occur.
