Learn how to clean the cassette pads on the MAXIFY GX5020. If paper isn't properly feeding from the cassette, cleaning the cassette pads may resolve the problem.

Solution

Cleaning Cassette Pads

If the pad in a cassette is smeared with paper powder or dirt, two or more sheets of paper may be ejected. Follow the procedure below to clean the pad in a cassette.

You will need a cotton swab.

  1. Pull out the cassette from the printer, then remove all the paper.

  2. Clean the pad (A) sideways with a moistened cotton swab.

     After cleaning the smeared pad, dry it completely.

  3. Reload the paper in the cassette, then insert it into the printer.

     If a message is displayed on the screen after inserting the cassette into the printer, select Yes.

If the problem is not resolved, servicing is required.

There are two options currently available to you.

  1. Warranty Service – If you are within the 1-year manufacturer’s warranty and have your proof of purchase you are entitled to service or replacement. If you have purchased a CarePak Canon extended warranty, you may be entitled to additional options.  Please create or log into your Canon Account to obtain service.
     
  2. Out of Warranty – If you are outside of your warranty period, you may qualify for purchasing a replacement through the Canon Upgrade Program. Please contact our Sales group to inquire about your upgrade options at 866-443-8002.
