Description

Learn how to use the Remote UI of the PIXMA MG6620 / MG7520 to update its firmware.

Solution

Occasionally, firmware updates are released for your printer to ensure optimum security and print quality. You can update the firmware for your MG7520 with a USB cable connection to a Windows PC or a Mac®. If you are unable to use a USB connection to perform a firmware update, you can use the Remote UI (web-based interface) of the printer to perform this update.

Follow these steps to perform a firmware update with the printer's Remote UI.

Your printer must be connected to a network with Internet access in order to perform this procedure.

  1. With the printer powered on, print the network setting information (also known as a LAN Details Page).

  2. You will see an IPv4 IP Address on this page. Enter this IP address into a web browser (for example, it may say 192.168.1.110).

  3. You will be prompted to enter the printer's username and password. Enter this information to proceed.

  4. Select Firmware update.

Select Firmware update (outlined in yellow)

  5. Select Install update.

Select Install update (outlined in red)

The printer will check for an updated firmware version.

  6. If an updated firmware version is available, you will be asked if you want to proceed with the update. Click Update to begin this process.

    Click Update (outlined in red)

  7. The printer will shut down and begin the update. This may take several minutes.

    Update in progress

After the update has finished, the printer will power back on. You may be asked to enter the printer's name and password again on your web browser. If so, enter this information. The following screen will appear. Click OK.

    Success

The firmware update is complete.
