Solution
The Paper Information List describes paper products available for this printer, paper settings, and restrictions.
For paper handling instructions, also refer to manual supplied with the paper.
Notes on Printing Environment
The following problems may occur in low-humidity environments (below 40%).
- The paper may curl or become wrinkled.
- The paper and print head may come in contact with each other, the print surface may be scratched, and the print head may be damaged.
- The cut printed material sticks to the printer and does not drop below. (Film paper)
- Depending on storage conditions, paper may not be fed correctly due to static electricity generated during transport. (Plain paper, Coated paper, Films)
- Printing is uneven. (Film paper)
The following problems may occur in high-humidity environments (above 60%).
- The printed material does not dry.
- Waving of the paper surface is extreme.
- Paper is not cut neatly.
Notes Common to All Paper
- Avoid use in environments where there is exposure to water.
- Handle all paper carefully to avoid abrasions and scratching. We recommend wearing gloves.
- The paper may expand or contract due to changes in conditions such as humidity. Acclimate the paper sufficiently to the printing environment before use.
- After printing, allow the ink to sufficiently dry before handling. Also, we recommend that you dry the paper separately, without stacking.
- After printing, handle the paper carefully to avoid touching the surface of the printed material.
Pigment ink may peel off if rubbed or scratched due to its properties.
- Handle the paper carefully to avoid transferring sweat and oils on hands to the printed surface. This may affect the printing quality.
- Ejected paper
Depending on the condition of the ejected paper, it may block the next paper ejected, resulting in scratching. Therefore, remove each page separately.
- If you will not be printing for an extended period of time, or if you expect the printing environment to change, remove any paper from the printer and store it in a bag.
- Do not leave paper in the printer in high humidity environments (above 60%).
Handling Roll Paper
- Using paper whose end does not come off the paper core:
When printing on paper other than Canon genuine paper or Canon feed confirmed paper and using the roll paper to the end, the paper end does not come off the paper core, which may affect the paper feed. We recommend confirming the paper specifications with the manufacturer before purchase.
- If the paper end is frayed:
Use scissors or another instrument to eliminate fraying. If fraying occurs at the end, fibers may get caught inside the printer, resulting in damage.
- When using roll paper with large curls:
If you use roll paper whose leading edge has large curls, the print surface may be soiled. Straighten the curl, and then use.If the curl cannot be straightened, use the Set cut length function from the printer's operation panel to cut off the curled part before printing.
- When loading the roll paper:
If the end of the roll paper is uneven or contains dirt and tape residue, it may cause feeding problems. If the end of the paper is curled, straighten it out before loading.
- Sometimes paper waving is noticeable the first time you print after loading the roll paper.
- If print quality is particularly important, we recommend performing Eject cut.

The ink usage amount increases in five incremental steps as the number increases, with [Special 1] being the least amount, and [Special 5] being the most.
As the ink usage amount increases, colors become more vivid but bleeding occurs more easily.
We recommended that you try printing in sequence from [Special 1] while checking the print results.
