Cleaning the Print Heads
The print head cleaning and deep cleaning functions allow you to clear up clogged print head nozzles. Perform a print head cleaning if printing results are not satisfactory or if a specific color fails to print, even though there is enough ink.
Furthermore, if the situation does not improve even after performing a deep cleaning, perform Replace Ink in Print Head.
Cleaning

Select Utilities from the Remote UI.

Select Cleaning.
Before performing a cleaning, check that the printer power is on.
Also, make sure that there is enough ink left in the printer. Then, if necessary, perform a cleaning.

Select Yes.
Print head Cleaning starts.
Next, the message for Nozzle Check pattern printing is displayed.

To check whether the print quality has improved, click Yes. To cancel the check process, click No.
If cleaning the head once does not resolve the print head problem, clean it once more.
Cleaning consumes a small amount of ink. Cleaning the print head frequently will rapidly deplete your printer's ink supply. Perform a cleaning only when necessary.
Deep Cleaning
Deep cleaning is more thorough than a standard cleaning. Perform Deep Cleaning when two Cleaning attempts do not resolve the print head problem.

Select Deep Cleaning.
Before performing a deep cleaning, check that the printer power is on.
Also, make sure that there is enough ink left in the printer. Then, if necessary, perform a cleaning

Select Yes.
Print head Deep Cleaning starts.
Next, the message for Nozzle Check pattern printing is displayed.

To check whether the print quality has improved, click Yes. To cancel the check process, click No.
Deep cleaning consumes a larger amount of ink than a standard cleaning. Cleaning the print head frequently will rapidly deplete your printer's ink supply. Perform a deep cleaning only when necessary.
If print results do not improve even after performing Deep Cleaning, turn off the power, wait 24 hours without pulling out the power plug, and then perform Deep Cleaning again. If print results still do not improve, perform an ink flush. Note that an ink flush uses a large volume of ink.
Replace Ink in Print Head
Perform an ink flush if the print results do not improve even after Deep Cleaning is performed.

Select Utilities from the Remote UI.

Select Replace Ink in Print Head.
Select the ink group requiring an ink flush.
Before performing an ink flush, check that the printer power is on.
Also, make sure that there is enough ink left in the printer. Then, if necessary, perform an ink flush.

Select Yes.
Replace Ink in Print Head starts.
This process takes approximately 6 minutes.
Next, the message for Nozzle Check pattern printing is displayed.

To check whether the print quality has improved, click Yes. To cancel the check process, click No.
This process consumes an extremely large amount of ink. If you do this frequently, you will rapidly deplete your printer's ink supply. Only perform Replace Ink in Print Head when necessary.
