This article provides instructions on removing paper jammed in the imagePROGRAF TC-20 / TC-20M.
Solution
Select an option below for instructions on removing paper jams.
If you experience a paper jam when using roll paper, follow the steps below to remove the jam.
Open the cut sheet feed cover.
Open the roll paper feed cover by unlocking it with the lever in the position shown in the figure.
Cut loaded roll paper with regular scissors or the like.
Before cutting, loosen the roll paper and lift it up.
When cutting paper, be careful to avoid injury or damage to the printer.
Open the scanning unit / cover (TC-20M only) and the access cover and move the carriage to the left or right side manually, away from the jam.
Do not move the carriage over jammed paper.This may damage the print head.
Do not touch the linear scale (A) or carriage rail (B).This may stain your hands and damage the printer.
Remove the jammed paper from the output tray.
If there is paper left on the platen, slacken the paper on the platen and wind it up.
After rolling up all the paper, remove it from the platen.
After removing the paper from the platen, check for any remaining pieces of paper.
Close the scanning unit / cover (TC-20M only) and the access cover.
Close the roll paper feed cover and cut sheet feed cover.
If a sheet jams, follow the steps below to remove it.
Remove jammed paper.
If the paper is jammed by the paper feed slot
Remove the jammed paper from the paper feed slot.
After removing the paper, make sure there are no other scraps of paper in the printer.
If the paper is jammed by the ejection guide
Remove the jammed paper from the output tray.
After removing the paper, make sure there are no other scraps of paper in the printer.
If the paper cannot be pulled through by any of the solutions above, try the following.
Open the scanning unit / cover (TC-20M only) and the access cover and move the carriage to the left or right side manually, away from the jam.
Do not move the carriage over jammed paper.This may damage the print head.
Do not touch the linear scale (A) or carriage rail (B).This may stain your hands and damage the printer.
Remove the jammed paper from the paper feed slot and output tray again.
After removing the paper, make sure there are no other scraps of paper in the printer.
Close the scanning unit / cover (TC-20M only) and the access cover.
Follow these steps to remove any scraps left in the paper feed slot after you clear jammed sheets or roll paper.
Open the cut sheet feed cover.
Open the roll paper feed cover by unlocking it with the lever in the position shown in the figure.
Fold an A4 sheet lengthwise four times, insert it through the gap of the paper feed slot, and scrape the jammed paper to the paper feed slot side.
Remove scraps when they are pushed out onto the paper feed slot.
If any scraps remain inside the paper feed slot, repeat steps 3 and 4.
Close the roll paper feed cover and cut sheet feed cover.
