Description

The feed roller and retard roller are consumable parts The feed roller and retard roller wear with scanning. If the feed roller and retard roller are worn, documents may not feed correctly and paper jams and double feeds may occur.
When the total number of pages fed by the scanner exceeds the number of pages for the service life of the rollers, a message prompting you to replace the rollers is displayed when the computer is started.

if this message begins to be displayed at startup, purchase an exchange roller kit and replace the worn parts with the consumable parts included in the kit (feed roller and retard roller).
Furthermore, the counter in the scanner that records the number of pages fed also needs to be reset when you replace the rollers.

Opening and Closing the Upper Unit

  1. Open the document feed tray.


     
  2. Raise the OPEN lever and open the upper unit.


    The location of each of the consumable parts is shown below.

     
  3. Close the upper unit by gently pushing down on the left and right sides. Push until it clicks into place to make sure that it is completely closed.


     
  4. Close the document feed tray.

Replacing the Retard Roller

  1. Unlock the roller cover and open it.


     
  2. Remove the retard roller.


     
  3. Install the new retard roller.


     
  4. Press the roller cover to close it.

Replacing the Feed Roller

  1. Lift the securing lever for the feed roller forward.


     
  2. Slide the securing lever for the feed roller to the left.


     
  3. Remove the feed roller, detaching the left side first.


     
  4. Install the new feed roller, attaching the right side first.


     
  5. Slide the securing lever for the feed roller to the right.


     
  6. Lower the securing lever for the feed roller until it clicks into place.
